It’s been almost a decade since Ted was last on our screens. He’ll finally return on January 11 with a brand new prequel series that takes viewers back to a high school in the early 90s. Better still, all seven episodes will be released at once. Below, we’ll explain how you can binge the Ted TV show online, even if you’re traveling abroad (outside of the US).
We recommend watching Ted via official sources. These provide the best-possible experience, with high-quality video and no chance of the stream being taken offline. Shady sites, while free, tend to have poor performance, broken links, and more often than not, lots of distracting ads. On the plus side, it’s actually quite easy to stream Ted legitimately, as you’ll soon see.
The Ted TV show will only be shown on geo-blocked streaming platforms. If you’re traveling abroad, you’ll need a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to regain access to your usual services.
How to stream Ted season one from abroad
VPNs allow you to continue using your favorite services, no matter where you are in the world. They also encrypt your internet traffic, preventing snoopers like your ISP from throttling your speeds or keeping tabs on your activities. Just follow these steps to watch Ted anywhere:
- First, decide which VPN you’d like to use. We recommend NordVPN, although Surfshark and ExpressVPN are both fantastic options as well.
- Download the VPN app onto whichever device you use for streaming.
- Sign in and connect to one of the available servers in your home country. This hides your real IP address and location, making it seem like you never left.
- Finally, visit your country’s Ted broadcaster (see below). You should be able to use the services as though you were still back home. If you’re having problems, we’ve found that clearing your cookies and cache tends to help.
- Still can’t watch? In that case, we’d recommend asking your VPN’s support team for help. The services mentioned above all offer free, 24/7 live chat so that you can resolve any issues as quickly as possible.

How to watch the Ted TV Series online on US TV
American viewers can watch the Ted TV series exclusively on Peacock. It costs $5.99 USD per month to watch with ads, or $11.99 monthly for a mostly ad-free experience. Unfortunately, there’s no free trial period, but on the plus side, Peacock does let you stream the original Ted movie as well.
If you’d like to watch Ted 2, you have two options: either swing on over to Max ($9.99/month) or rent it for around $4. This movie is currently available on Amazon, Google Play, and Apple TV, among other rental platforms. .
All of the above services are region-locked. In other words, you may need a VPN to access the while in other countries. NordVPN comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, giving you the chance to try it risk-free. If you’re not impressed, just cancel for a full refund.
Where else can I watch Ted online?
The first season of Ted will release in a couple of countries outside of the US. Here’s a rundown of which networks are showing Ted where you are:
Australia
Binge will be dropping all seven episodes of Ted on January 11, the same day that they become available in the US. This service normally costs $10 AUD per month, but it offers a seven-day free trial. You can sign up, stream the Ted TV show for free, and cancel afterward to avoid paying anything! Binge’s catalog also includes both Ted movies in case you’d like to watch everything in chronological order.
This platform is only available in Australia. If you’re away from home, you can regain access using one of your VPN’s Australian servers.
UK
Sky Max is the UK’s official Ted broadcaster. Unfortunately, the network is staying tight-lipped about when we can expect to see the show, saying only that it’s coming “early 2024”.
The good news is that there are plenty of ways to watch when it does arrive. If you’re already a Sky TV customer, you can stream Sky Max online at no added cost using the Sky Go app.
Cordcutters, on the other hand, are able to watch Sky Max by signing up for Now TV’s Entertainment pass. If you go this route, we’d recommend choosing the Fully Flexible plan – it’s a little more expensive but won’t lock you into a six-month contract. Now TV also includes Ted and Ted 2, though these are also on Netflix UK.
Sky Go and Now TV are only available in the UK. Just connect to a British VPN server and you’ll be able to use them anywhere.

What can we expect from the Ted TV show?
The trailer for Ted shows the Thunder Buddies struggling to adapt to high school in 1993. Johnny is having to deal with bullies, girl problems, and a lack of friends, whereas Ted acts as a sort of mentor to help him navigate this difficult period in his life.
If you’re familiar with MacFarlane’s other work, you’ll have a pretty good idea of what’s coming: there’s plenty of profanity, drug references, and cutaway jokes, so fans of Family Guy will be right at home. In fact, because it’s a prequel, you don’t even have to have seen the Ted movies.
Who stars in Ted (TV series)?
While the original movies had an all-star cast, the TV version of Ted will not. After all, it’s hard to get Mark Wahlberg to sign on for a prequel series, no matter how successful the original was. Here are the main confirmed cast members for the Ted TV show at the time of writing:
- Seth MacFarlane (American Dad) as Ted
- Max Burkholder (Parenthood) as John
- Alanna Ubach (Euphoria) as Susan
- Scott Grimes (The Orville) as Matty
- Giorgia Whigham (The Punisher) as Blaire
- Ara Hollyday (Asteroid City) as Andrew
