Where to watch Naruto Shippuden in the US
Hulu is currently streaming Naruto Shippuden in the USA. If you don’t have a Hulu account yet, it has a few different subscription packages depending on your interests and budget. Hulu is exclusive to the US, so if you’re out of the country, you’ll need one of the VPNs recommended above to access it.
Crunchyroll, which is a great choice for anime generally, has the first season of Naruto Shippuden available for free. Access to the other seasons requires a subscription. These start from $7.99 a month and come with a 14-day free trial.

Where to watch Naruto Shippuden in Canada
If you’re in Canada, you’re in luck. Every episode of Naruto Shippuden is available for free on Crunchyroll. If you’re traveling outside the country, you’ll need a VPN with servers in Canada to get a Canadian IP address.
If Crunchyroll isn’t available, you can buy Naruto Shippuden episodes on Amazon, Apple TV, YouTube, and Google Play TV for $1.99. These are Canadian libraries, so you’ll need a VPN with servers in Canada to access them.
Can I use a free VPN to stream Naruto Shippuden abroad?
Free VPNs have far smaller server networks than subscription-based VPNs. The paucity of servers makes it relatively easy for streaming platforms to identify them as belonging to a VPN provider, and block them. Furthermore, these servers can easily become congested, some to the point where a queuing system has to be used for connections. Once connected, speeds are typically too slow for streaming in HD.
Even if you’re willing to put up with buffering, there are privacy and security issues to contend with. Most free VPNs have some form of logging policy, and may sell your data to third parties. Some fail to use appropriate encryption or may leak your IP address.
What is Naruto Shippuden about?
The chronicles of the adolescent ninja Naruto Uzumaki continued the storyline in Masashi Kishimoto’s best-selling manga series Naruto, culminating in a 500-episode anime series which first aired in 2007.
The show ran for ten years in Tokyo and is still a favorite for anime fans throughout the world. Whether you’re new to anime or you’ve read the original manga series and want more, it’s a must-see for its action-packed adventures.
Naruto Shippuden follows Naruto’s coming of age after he’s left Konohagakure, the Hidden Leaf Village, in his quest to be hokage (leader) of his village. Along the way, he has to face the enemy ninja organization Akatsuki and thwart their attempts to take over the ninja world.
Here’s a rundown of the main characters of Naruto Shippuden if you’re new to the series:
- Naruto Uzumaki: When Naruto was born in the Hidden Leaf Village, a nine-tailed fox with destructive powers attacked the village. The fox caused tsunamis and earthquakes just by waving its tail. To protect the village, the fox was placed inside Naruto’s newborn body, giving him ninja powers which the other villagers thought were evil. When Naruto is cast out of the village, he resolves to use his powers for good.
- Sakura Haruno: The only female ninja of Team 7, she’s the smartest in the ninja academy and did not get along with Naruto at first. Over time, she trains harder and defeats Ino Yamanaka, who then becomes her rival.
- Kakashi Hatake: Kakashi’s powerful transplanted Sharingan eye gives him an edge over other ninjas, as he can manipulate space-time to launch long-distance attacks. His nickname is “The Copy Ninja.”
- Sasuke Uchiha: As a child, Sasuke’s clan was murdered by his brother Itachi. Throughout the series, he trains hard so he can try to kill Itachi and reclaim his clan.
