Disney released its live-action Mulan remake straight to video-on-demand on September 4, 2020. Thankfully, the platform is no longer charging a rental fee on top of its subscription costs, meaning anyone with a Disney+ account can watch Mulan for free. If you’re travelling abroad, you’ll need to use a VPN to access your home Disney account and watch Mulan (2020).
A virtual private network (VPN) allows you to change your virtual location simply by connecting to a server in the VPN provider’s network. For example, connecting to a server in the US will give you a US IP address. Furthermore, the VPN software will encrypt all traffic flowing between your device and the server.
We only recommend Disney+ as your streaming source for Mulan. This film is the sole property of Disney and will only release on Disney+ in the countries where Disney+ is currently available. We do not condone watching Mulan from unverified sources that infringe on Disney’s copyrights. Unofficial sources, such as torrent sites, file lockers, or streaming sites not owned by Disney carry significant security and privacy risks.
How to watch Mulan online with a VPN
By connecting to a VPN server in a different country, users can access content libraries from streaming services that would otherwise be off-limits. Bear in mind, however, that relatively few VPN providers have avoided being blacklisted by streaming platforms wise to this practice. We have an article dedicated to VPN services able to access Disney+.
Here’s how to watch Mulan online using a VPN:
- Sign up to a VPN provider that’s able to access Disney+. We recommend NordVPN – it has thousands of speedy servers worldwide and works consistently well with Disney Plus.
- Now, download and install the VPN on the device of your choice, such as your desktop/laptop computer or Amazon Fire TV.
- Sign in to your Disney+ account, or create one if you’re not already a subscriber.
- Log in to the VPN and connect to a server in a country where Disney+ is streaming Mulan, such as the US or UK.
- Find Mulan in Disney+ and start streaming.
- If you’re still getting blocked, try to clear your browser’s cache and cookies (if using a desktop/laptop computer to stream) or open an incognito or private window in your browser. You may also need to connect to a different server. A good option may be to ask your VPN provider’s chat support for additional assistance.
What if Disney+ is not available in my country?
You can only watch Disney+ free if you have a Disney+ account. If Disney+ is not currently available in your country, that means you’ll need to sign up for an account first. For that, you’ll need two things:
- A VPN like NordVPN to connect to a country where Disney+ is available
- A payment method for the country where you’re creating a Disney+ account
As great as a VPN connection is, it won’t help you spoof the location of your payment method. There are some workarounds to that, however. You may need to purchase a US Google Play gift card from a site like MyGiftCardSupply. From there, you’d just need to spoof your location in the Google Play Store to access and download the Disney+ app.
There’s no guarantee that method will always work, however, as Google is very good at rooting out each user’s real location. However, if you can successfully access the US Google Play Store, you can pay for a Disney+ subscription through Google Play.
