The 2024/25 HSBC SVNSÂ gets underway on Saturday, November 30Â and runs until May 4, 2025. This sees 12 nations competing in eight events, the final of which sees the top eight ranked teams competing in a Grand Final held in the US. The trouble is that, as with most popular sporting events, most streams become region-locked when you travel abroad due to copyright and licensing restrictions. This is why a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is useful.
We’re only recommending official sources for streaming the 2024-25 SVNS. Such is the popularity of the SVNS, there’ll likely be various unlicensed streams. However, these streams tend to be low resolution and laggy. Unauthorized streams also run the risk of being pulled offline for infringing on copyright. You won’t have these issues with official streams, which are what we’ll focus on below so you can watch the SVNS in the highest possible quality.
SVNS matches will be shown on geo-blocked platforms. If you want to continue watching via your home streaming service while on vacation, then you need a VPN.

How to stream the SVNS live online
The SVNS is an international rugby tournament being played across seven countries. It’ll be on air in countries around the world. Here are some of the main options that will be covering the SVNS 2024/25:
UK
TNT Sports has secured the live broadcasting rights for all HSBC SVNS events. If you’ve already got a TV subscription that includes TNT Sports, you need only sign in via the Discovery+ app to watch the 2024/25 SVNS live online.
If you don’t yet have access to TNT Sports, you can sign up contract-free via Discovery+. This costs GBP £30.99 a month. Note that it’s also possible to add TNT Sports via Amazon Prime for the same price (albeit on top of an existing Amazon Prime subscription).
A Discovery+ subscription includes access to Gallagher Premiership Rugby, Allianz Women’s Premiership Rugby, and the Autumn Nations Series.
TNT Sports is only available in the UK on Discovery+. You’ll need a UK IP address. Fortunately, you can get one by connecting to a VPN server in the UK. NordVPN works well with Discovery+ and is risk-free thanks to its 30-day money-back guarantee.
USA
Rugby fans in the US will be able to watch the HSBC SVNS 2024/25 live on Peacock. A Premium subscription usually costs USD $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year. However, at the time of writing there’s a Black Friday offer which is just $1.99 a month for six months or $19.99 for one year. There’s no such offer with the ad-free Premium Plus version which also includes your local NBC channel live, 24/7.
Due to the fact that Peacock is only offered in the US, a VPN is required to watch it from any other country. You need only connect to a server in the US for a US IP address to start streaming.
Australia
Stan Sport is the home of the SVNS in Australia. To watch Stan Sport, you’ll need a Stan base subscription. There are three subscription tiers to choose from: Basic (AUD $12/month), Standard ($17/month), and Premium ($22/month). The key differences between the plans are the video resolution (SD, HD, or 4K UHD) and the number of screens you can watch and download on. The Stan Sport add-on then costs an additional $15 a month.
If you travel outside Australia, you’ll find that the Stan streaming service is region-locked. To get around this requires an Australian IP address via a VPN.
South Africa
If you’re in South Africa, you’ll be able to follow the 2024/25 SVNS on SuperSport. Those who already have a cable subscription that includes SuperSport have it easiest. You only have to sign in using your existing login credentials via DStv Stream to watch online.
Fortunately, there’s an option to watch SuperSport cable-free via Showmax, an online streaming platform which has subscription prices starting from R45. Note that if you want to watch DStv Stream or Showmax anywhere outside South Africa, you’ll need a VPN and South African IP address to do so.

Can I watch the SVNS abroad with a free VPN?
You’ll struggle to stream the SVNS from abroad when using a free VPN. One of the first difficulties you’re likely to face is finding a server in your preferred location. Free VPNs aren’t known for offering many options as they simply don’t have the money to invest in their server infrastructure. Even if you do find a server in the right country, the free VPN IP address may already be blacklisted due to having been shared by so many users.
Most free VPNs throttle user bandwidth and this results in streams that are low resolution and with excessive lag. We also have some concerns regarding security and privacy. A free VPN won’t provide the same level of security as a quality paid VPN, which could leave your data vulnerable to cybercriminals. Be aware that some free VPNs keep identifying logs. Data such as your browsing activity could be shared with third parties.
